Some Sort of Multitasking

The cool days have ended and tomorrow is supposed to be brutal. Work has been... Listen, at this point my main comment is "this month has been a very bad day".

I signed up to

iddyiddybangbang theoretically with art, and by 'art' I mean 'completely bonkers custom gunpla' so we'll see how I do. The deadline is within a couple days of the deadline for a contest in the little gunpla discord I'm in so double-dipping, maybe?

Speaking of, yeah, still happily working on models. While I haven't seen Witch from Mercury, the kit I just finished is the Gundvolva from it because I like the overall look of the machine. I've finally set up my computer desk so I can built little kits while also being social and it's better than doomscrolling between conversations. Vidar is next, but he's a pretty simple-looking critter. And since it's been awhile, here's a poll!

Building models has really scratched an itch I don't even know if I had. Gonna start cycling other hobbies back in, once the weather calms down, but right now this is good for these hot days where my greater focus is pretty much crap.

(I've also been working through the JFF movie lineup before the end of the month; I should be able to get there!)

2. The guys came and fixed the back screen door today. I'm so used to dealing with the broken door that it's weird to have it working properly again, but I'm sure I'll get used to that again soon enough.

Daily Happiness

1. I had a lot of stuff to get caught up on at work after the weekend, but I got caught up.

2. I kept seeing ads for one of these blanket hoodie things and although it's not the season for it, it did look very comfy, so I ended up ordering it and it arrived today. It is indeed very comfy and I can see myself getting a lot of use out of this during colder weather.

3. We had a nice evening at Disneyland.

2025 Disneyland Trip #52 (7/21/25)

Today was a first. Carla drove down to Disneyland from home, and I met her there after work. (Usually if we go after work, either she rides with me and then takes the car to do whatever while I'm doing work stuff, or I go back home after work and pick her up then head back down.)

1. We got fancy bagels for breakfast again. This time managed to get up to the shop around nine or so, so there was hardly any crowd yet.

2. I thought the limited edition chamoy Kettle Chips were all sold out for good as we hadn't seen them in a while, but they got restocked, so we snagged another couple bags.

A Deadly Night at the Theatre
The new Dahlia Lively mystery came out just as I was finishing up A Slash of Emerald. Perfect timing. I like this series a lot.

The Nice House by the Sea vol. 1
I knew this was associated with Nice House on the Lake (obviously) but since the name is different, I didn't realize it was the direct continuation. So I read it, but I didn't remember enough about The Nice House on the Lake, so then I had to reread those first two volumes as well (not a hardship as it's a great series). There are too many characters and too many things going on and I am almost certainly going to have to reread things before the next volume comes out, too...

Something Is Killing the Children vol. 8
I hadn't realized this was out. It's just a collection of stand-alones set at various times in the series rather than being a new arc.

The Deviant vol. 2
I liked this series a lot, but was a little disappointed in the ending as I thought we would get to find out who had really committed the first string of murders as well. ( spoilers )

What I chat about: Usually whatever random thoughts are going on, particularly any fandom thoughts I have. I want to post more often, particularly in talking about a couple creative projects I've got going on. So, pretty much anything I feel like posting...? With heavy irregularity; it's not unusual for me to go weeks without using my journal, so don't be concerned if I vanish off the face of DW for a while.
I'm looking to connect with people who: Want to chat, whether about random things or fandom things (even if non-shared fandoms). Collaborators, other creators, or people who just want to have ordinary conversations! I'm not that interested in taking part in discourse or anti culture, and I don't tend to post many negative things myself, but if you wanna chat about something and get it off your chest, that's also fair game.

Main Fandoms: Disney Ducks (particularly the wider Uncle $crooge comicsverse) is a big one, as is Fraggle Rock. Pokemon and Digimon are also huge ones cohabitating in my brain. Oh! And also Megaman, especially the EXE series. These are all pretty equally big fandoms in my book. And Red Dead Redemption 2 and RDO; looking to play RDR1 someday, but that's a little out of my reach right now.

I promised myself I wouldn't make any more websites. I always make the structure too elaborate! They're so time-consuming!

Welcome to Kira's Tokyo, my brand new Death Note website! Mainly consisting of my rambling about Light Yagami, because, wow, I have a lot to say about Light Yagami.

As with my websites for Final Fantasy VIII and Silent Hill 2, much of the text originally comes from my posts on this blog, so parts of the site will probably sound familiar if you've read my previous Death Note rambling! I hope it's fun to see my thoughts presented in this new format, though.

Daily Happiness

1. Our window for the internet upgrade was 8am to 12pm and I got a text at 7:30 saying the guy was on his way, and he arrived a little before eight. Glad we were his first stop! Since it was just an upgrade, not setting up new service, it didn't take that long. I think he was gone by 9:30 or so. Everything seems to be working well, both in terms of speed increases and, more importantly, wifi range. When Carla got her Switch 2, it wouldn't connect to the wifi if it wasn't in my room (where the router is), which is inconvenient. We hoped it was just our crappy old router affecting it and not the Switch itself, and sure enough it works fine now. Whew!

2. Since the guy finished so early, we decided to go to the farmers market and then go to Disneyland for lunch afterwards. Got two bottles of the watermelon lemonade at the farmers market, as well as some more rhubarb as Carla wants to make a rhubarb syrup to make rhubarb lemonade. We also got some delicious grapes. Carla had run to the store while the internet guy was here and I had meant to ask her to get some sort of fruit and totally forgot, so I was excited to find some really tasty grapes at the farmers market.

3. It was very sunny down in Anaheim today, though not super hot. Crowds were decent. We had a nice lunch and had a fun afternoon. Definitely felt a little wiped out from that sun afterwards, though.

4. This is what I wake up to every morning. Molly always sleeps in this spot right next to my pillow. She usually keeps me company the whole night, too.

We originally moved our weekend Disney trip from Saturday to Sunday because the internet guy was coming this morning, but then he ended up getting done so early that we decided to go ahead and go today for lunch and just stay home tomorrow.
